Business Cards & Crochet Tips

Hello Everyone!,
I'm sorry I haven't written in a while, but I haven't forgot about my blog! Things have been really CRAZY around here! Today, I got my business cards in the mail and I LOVE THEM! I got them from Vistaprint and they are perfect!

Didn't they turn out FABULOUS?!

Sorry, I'm just really excited about them! I can't wait to hand them out when I go try to sell my baby crochet items! What do you think of them? I'd really like some opinions on them!

I still have a lot of things I need to make before I can go try to sell. I would like to have 3 or 4 identical items. I really need to get busy! I would also like to find some new things to make!

Tips for crocheting:

I started a crochet pattern binder and every pattern that I love I keep in my binder  for safe keeping so I can't lose it.  So far, It's working great.  After all, when you find a pattern or make a pattern that you really love and you lose it.. it makes you really upset.  So, I won't have that problem anymore.. unless I lose the binder.. and.. well, let's not go there, lol.

So, anyways, about crocheting.. I found something that was really helpful to me lately.. You don't have to use an actual stitch marker for your projects.. you don't have to use a little piece of yarn either.. Ladies.. you have them in your bathroom, or spread around your house marking your territory if you are anything like me.. and these things are called... Bobby Pins! They work great!!

Well, I think that's all for now! If you'd like to contact me, you can contact me through my Facebook page, (Just click on the link) or you can email me at Onestitchatatime2014@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you! Also, feel free to leave a comment or suggestions on my blog!

Until next time...

Happy Crocheting!,

A tutorial: How to crochet a heart!

Hello Everyone,
So, yesterday on my blog I was saying how I'd like to do some kind of tutorial. Well, today I decided I'd like to try to do one, so here it goes. Today I'd like to teach you guys how to make a really cute heart for your crocheted projects! This pattern is super duper easy, and can be done by any skill level of crochet!

For my beginners, I put pictures of every step that I did, and directions on how to double and triple crochet. And for my well seasoned crocheters, I put the pattern with no pictures at the bottom. :-) Y'all enjoy!

Crochet Heart Pattern:

*To start off you need any size crochet hook depending on the project you work on you can make the heart big or small. Just remember the bigger the hook, the bigger the heart. The smaller the hook, the smaller the heart.
*scissors
*needle
*And of course some yarn.

I am using Red Heart yarn in red.  And I'll be working with a G/6-4.25 Hook

To start off make a slip stitch, then chain 4:

Do 3 Triple Crochets in the last chain:

Here's How to Triple Crochet:

Yarn over the hook twice, then insert the hook into the next stitch,
Yarn over the hook and draw the yarn through the stitch (There are four loops on your hook),
Loop yarn over the hook, and draw through two loops (There are now three loops remaining on the hook),
Yarn over hook and draw through two loops,
Again, loop yarn over hook and draw through the last two loops on the hook (There is now one look remaining.)
This completes one treble crochet!!

 Then do 3 Double Crochets:

How to Double Crochet:

Yarn over the hook,
Insert the hook into the center stitch,
Yarn over, (you should have three loops on your hook) then pull through two loops,
Yarn over again, then pull through the last two loops.

 Ch 1:

1 Triple Crochet

 Ch 1:

3 Double Crochets:

3 Triple Crochets:

 Chain 3:

 Then join with slip stitch!

Ta-Dah! You've just made your first heart!!

How easy was that? After you're done, you can put these adorable little hearts on any crochet projects you make! So, now you know how to crochet a heart, too!!

 Heart pattern (without the pictures):
Ch 4, 3 triple crochet in 1st ch,
3 dc, ch 1, 1 triple crochet, Ch 1 (This is the point of the heart),
2 dc, 3 triple crochets, ch 3 sl. st.

I hope you guys really enjoyed my tutorial! Please post a picture of your heart you made on my blog because I would love to see it!! I'd also like to hear any comments you have on my tutorial! If you have any questions about this heart email me at Onestitchatatime2014@gmail.com and I would be happy to help you!

Until next time...

Happy Crocheting!!,

My first blog!

Hello Everyone, my name is Rachel Leger, and I have a crochet addiction. Well, not really an addiction, but I like to crochet...a lot. I started crocheting 3 years ago. I taught myself. I started out by looking up tutorial videos on YouTube on how to crochet different stitches. My first project was supposed to be a blanket.. let's just say it didn't look much like a blanket.. my mom called it “Conan.” And it did look like something Conan would wear. The stitches were loose, and lopsided.. Oh, I wish I still had it so I could post it on this blog. Unfortunately, I don't. But if I ever find it somewhere, I promise I'll post it!

Luckily, I found Yolanda Lopez's videos. That women is amazing! One day, I want to be able to put tutorial videos on YouTube so people can follow them! That would be great! Anyways, if you are a beginner, and want to learn to crochet, look her up on YouTube!

Anyways, like I said I like to crochet a lot. I like small projects though, because I never finish large projects, and I end up finding not even half way done projects everywhere. I like to crochet baby stuff like hats, mittens, and booties.

So, obviously this is my very first blog, and I'm super excited about it. I just started my own little on the side gig. I named it One Stitch at a Time. I picked that name because not only do I crochet, I like to sew, too. (Even though my sewing machine gives me fits every now and then.) And like my crochet work, I only like to sew baby stuff, too. This includes bibs, burp clothes, pee pee tee pees and that kind of stuff.

I've decided every time I make something I'm putting it in a box in my craft room, and when I have a lot of stuff in my box, I'm going to go to a craft show, or the flea market. I haven't decided what I want to do just yet though. If you have any suggestions, you can let me know! I also have a Facebook page with albums of all the things I've crocheted and sewed here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/rachel.leger.52. Also, feel free to add yourself to my friends and share my page with your buddies!

So, the latest thing I've crocheted are these cute little boots:

If I had a little girl these cute "wittle" things would be on those little toes right now!

Well, I think that's all for now! If you'd like to contact me, you can contact me through Facebook at the link I provided above, or you can email me at Onestitchatatime2014@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you! Also, feel free to leave a comment or suggestions on my blog!

Happy Crocheting!,
